      Salzburg, Austria

This tour combines the most unique Sound of Music tour with an exciting tour of the salt mines at Mount Durrnberg.

      Duration of tour: 8 hours

      The Tour

During the first part of the tour you relive the true story of the Von Trapp family which was filmed as the "Sound of Music" in the Salzburg area. This tour is a combination of the historical city of Salzburg itself and the beautiful Lakes and Mountains area where you will see the highlights and film locations like the palace of Leopoldskron, the gazebo at the Palace of Hellbrunn, city St. Gilgen and the collegiate church of Mondsee. The second part of the tour leads you to one of the oldest salt mines in the world. You are accompanied through the tunnel by miners and also get interesting information to the extraction of the salt by the Archbishop Wolf Dietrich (1587-1612) personally on a screen. Then you will have a short trip on a boat across an underground lake. Before you return back to Salzburg you will visit the authentically reconstructed Celtic village on Mountain Durrnberg which gives you an insight into the life of the Celts from about 2500 years ago.

      Includes

Transportation by coach, guided visit to the Palace Leopoldskron, the gardens in Hellbrunn (where you can take photos of the Gazebo), the city St. Gilgen and to the collegiate church (here was the scene for the wedding of Maria and the Baron in the movie 'Sound of Music') in Mondsee, entrance and guided tour of the mines and the Celtic Village.
